Still tryin' to fix my computer so I can get my Draw On.

Book One: Flowers in the Attic
Really enjoyed this one; it might be my favorite in the Dollanganger series. If you enjoy "slice of life" type stories about people just existing, you'll enjoy this one. Lorelei King is a great reader.

Book Two: Petals on the Wind
Honestly, I'd say this was my least favorite book in the series. It's amusing in that it manages to go at the Older Man/Younger Woman trope from every single angle- adoptive guardian, teacher/mentor, rescuer, upperclassman, step-dad (ish).

Book Three: If There be Thorns
Author: V.C Andrews
Reader(s): Lorelei King

This book is told through the eyes of Cathy's sons- the handsome, talented Jory and his disturbed younger brother Bart. Boy is there a lot of talk about corporal punishment of children. They don't ever go into any detail or even start to or anything, but it boarders on gratuitous sometimes as in "You could really take out three or four mentions and nothing would be lost."

Book Four: Seeds of Yesterday

Book Five: (Prequil): Garden of Shadows

A discussion on LJ about the books. This was way too much fun, even though we were ripping on the books hardcore. How, you might ask, can you enjoy this junk? This LJ comment explained it best:
Andrews wrote junk, but it was consciously messed-up junk. She didn't pretend that stalking was Twu Wuv or sociopaths were selfless.

That's all I ever ask. If you're going to write about stuff, just be honest. Admit when your characters have flaws and do messed up stuff. It's one of the hardest things to do, but be proud of their flaws in the "I made you complete" way, and let them be proud, even unapologetic of their flaws, too, in the "I'm doing it and I don't care/it looks fine from my perspective and I can't judge myself" way.

Catherine, Christopher, you two are brother and sister!
"Yeah. AND?!?"
"What's it to you?"

You're sleeping with your blood sister, dude.
"Yup. Watcha gonna do about it?"
"Come at me, bro. *Ho ho ho C Wut I Did There?*"

Dude! That's incest!
"U Mad?"
"He mad, bro."
"Y U Mad Tho?"
"Haters gonna hate."

Okay, of all the books we dealt with, the VC Andrews books were some of the CREEPIEST just to look at-all of those pale children/young adults with empty red eyes* staring out at us from the black covers...

*Nothing against albinos at ALL, but the artist had a GIFT.

And I got to put them out nearly EVERY DAY...

(embarrassed sidelong look) I never actually READ any of them...

'S okay; I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have watched it if friends hadn't dragged me to it. But their albums are an excellent tribute/parody of the 60's. (This Is Spinal Tap is superior, of course)

Perfectly fine!

Oh, yes, I have admired BJDs from afar for a while now (except it hasn't been so afar; I've got classic (12") GI Joes! I just wish my folks hadn't tossed my collection...)

No,no, I am entranced by them. One of these days I'm going to make cloth ones that are similar... (Because, as you said, they AIN'T cheap-and there is just so much I can fritter on my hobby)

Ok, she will stay all safely snugglebunnies with Not-Ivan. ;) Although I really DO need to pose them for a picture shoot noshing on Not-Bella...

Oh, I was wondering which characters you wanted to know more about?

And... oh, Lawd. I really need to work on drawing them. I think I've got Aella pegged, and possibly Dee. (Of course, she's the easiest-very much a "Cute Anime Girl") Ginny's the one I'd love to peg the visuals of, but she's a bit stubborn.

Ok, pic #5? the Volks of the young person with a journal, looking wistful? Is almost spot on for a school-age version of Ginny's partner Lise.

I could in theory do that, yeah... (and i'm sure i will, some day) I just... something that has probably saved my bank account in this is that i really need to see the actual thingummy sometimes, you know? "It's cool, yes, but is it RIGHT?"

Thought I replied to this...
maybe I just sent you an email reply?

Dolls are... addictive. Especially "found" ones; I have two Japanese "Geisha dolls" that were sold to tourists, that I found in the least likely of places. One was a rummage sale store in the back country, the other was in a "Goodwill" kind of store here. I can't play with them, sadly, but still...

And Ginny, that scoundrel, has picked up that Elfin ability of not being quite the same each time you look at her.
