A Work in progress about a Work in Progress. Meet Laurie, the mechanical child of George Harvey and Conor lively, the recent subjects of a lot of these posts.

First Conor put together the basic parts

Then he added a wig

I like how Laurie is turning out, especially the coloring which is improving in crawls. Just need to figure out how to make his empty eye socket look hollow. Darkening it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

He's not creepypasta, is he?

And now for the disgusting news: An elderly gay couple in Sonoma County, California, have been forcibly separated and had all their belongings sold by the county, despite having all the proper paperwork - wills, medical directives, etc - correct and in place.

Story Here
Basically, these men have been together twenty years, but after one of them (Harold) fell, the state separated them, took their home, forced the healthy one (Clay) into a nursing home and auctioned his things. What the eff?

A lot of people have re-blogged this, but they seem to be missing a key point. I shall attempt to remedy. This story is really depressing, but if you read it, please don't only comment about how sad it is. It is sad, yes, but you can take action! You're more powerful than you know!

Please write a letter to the local paper, the Press Democrat (owned by The New York Times) asking them to do some investigative reporting on the Greene v. County of Sonoma case. So far they have ignored the story.

Send a letter to the editor at letters@pressdemocrat.com. Include the story and a link to this post.

I kept it short because the paper gets a lot of mail. Working with the HRC, we found that letters to the editor are best kept short.

Dear sir/madam,

I have recently read about the story of Sonoma County separating Clay Greene from his long term partner. The story is quite worth investigating, not only on the level of justice, but as an issue of the way our country treats the elderly. I strongly encourage you to do some investigative reporting into this matter.

Eeegh. I'm not proud of it. This is just an example. Feel free to put makeup on it. Make it sexy.

You know what? Free sketches for anyone who blogs this and writes a letter! To be done and uploaded Thursday!
