Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007 06:19 pmI promised a Coming Out Entry (A COE) for the fan-fecking-tastic news about Dumbledore, so here it is. I welcome and encourage any and all comments as well. Don't be shy, please; 'specially those that sit on the opposite side of the fandom fence. Tell yer friends. Anonny-commnts turned off because non-journalers always seem to wander in and they're usually the ones with nothing to say.
I should probably make the disclaimer about the facetious hetero comments I toss out there. There it is. I'm not heterophobic; I have lots of straight friends. I just would like them to be discreet about their lifestyle choices if they must commit such acts.
Of course I'm happy that JK said it. Big Al D was the greatest wizard ever for one thing. For another thing, she didn't say "It was Lockheart!" which would just feel rotten. I love Gilly, too, but if the only rainbow boy she had was a fluffy, self-absorbed pretty boy (No, not Diggory!) then she'd just be asking for it.
But I'm also a little upset. It feels like another scrap. She threw lots to her good, loyal, brown nosed pets. Slashers, though are petulant, snarly pets so she's hoping to appease us with this. I don't buy her "If I'd known it'd make you happy" statement for one second. She knows there's slash fic. There have been net news articles about Potter slash and those articles mention JK, her lawyers, Warner Bros. and their knowlege of the whole buisness. There's a link to Irresistible Poison for fop's sake! "Here, have Albus to play with. But no Grindewald. He's not included. If you do take him, the joke's on you because he's wizard Hitler*."
*It's more fun to say Wizard Hitler out loud
For a little bit, I was even feeling petulant. "Oh, so I can't slash Dumbledore without permission? Screw you, I'll slash him no matter what you say! I'm this close to writing Het!Dumbledore just to spite you!" That passed though.
Then I'm a bit sad that I never expressed my adoration for Dumbledore before this. I always did like him, I was just too busy lovingly torturing Ron. I'm also sad that Miss_Celestene is being civil to me, so I may not do the re-zinger comic I had planned. Poor Harpsi-Thing! (I don't understand that nickname they gave me)
I'm also heavily anticipating the Jonny-come-lately slashers. Doesn't that just stink?
I'm kinda happy for Hannah/Neville, though. Yes it's filthy, stinking, unnatural heterosexuality, but I sort of liked the pairing after reading this fantastic piece for HP_Springsmut.
Forrrrrr the record, I never played the Harry Potter Ship Guessing Game. I never tried to predict the end game because it's not fun for me, so I don't get why people think "You're mad 'cause you guessed wrong!" Seems a bit silly.
For another thing, I don't like guessing games (unless I'm being cryptic) and with pairings I always, without fail back the pairing that's gotten shot before the gate even opens. I firmly believe that if I hadn't seen that H/Hr picture back in 2000-something and said "Wow, for a couple of nasty heteros, that's terribly cute!" then it would've stood a chance. It's been happening since Ranma 1/2 through Urusei Yatsura (Ataru/Shinobu!) and my parents getting divorced and the paper boat that was my friends Alex and Jeff and it will happen forever. I destroy couples.
But how do I really feel? I'll show you-
That's gotta make you feel good. It's O-KAY to be GAY, let's rejoice with the boys in the GAY WAY! Horray for the kind of man that you will find in the GAY WAY!
Hey! Ho! Mo! Hey!
It was this or Mika's "Love Today" but in the end I couldn't sit still for Mika. He just makes me want to jump and be all...
ETA: Oh, and there's something about Harry/Ginny being soul mates. I didn't see that until just a while ago. Like I've said before, I can't really bring myself to give a smeg about that pairing, but even so, this new "news" just strikes me as something a girl would write in her diary at a sleepover. That is, it's small potatoes and I can ignore it just as easily as I can ignore ev'rything else.
Everybody's gonna love today, gonna love today! Any way you want to, any way you've got to, Love, Love, ME! Love, Love ME!
