Once again, the OBH-ers... alright, just one, that adorable kid that we all know as Hickory Dickory Dak. He sure does have the mouth, though, screaming "VICTORY!" for H/G. I should be laughing, but I feel pretty bad for them. If everyone went and deserted Ron/Draco after we "got our way", I'd be upset. It's just not the same unless someone's there shipping in a nice community. I mean, as a Luna/Lucius shipper, I'm quite lonely and alone. The H/Gers must be feeling it hardcore.
If only we had the Ginny that should have been, and not the Ginny that was Sued beyond recognition.

Ron/Draco continues to dance all over canon's grave (which was sloppily dug by the Epilogue of Doom).

P.S: Don't think we don't see you Ret Coning Dumbledore, Rowling. That's a nasty trick, and I should've known you'd pull a bitch move like that. Literary coward.

rofl. Alright, I gotta admit, "Hickory Dickory Dak" isn't bad, Cousin It.

Don't know where I 'screamed' victory, rather than simply stated the obvious, that in the debate over who was right, we were proven correct. But hey, exaggeration gets more sympathy for your argument, yeah? Worked for G.W. Bush.

And dude (or whatever), you owled me. If anyone here has the mouth, it's you.

You named two deserters, neither of whom I heard of until you mentioned their names. There are others, to be sure. Big deal. We're talking about FAP. The fandom itself is doing just fine where it isn't trashed every day and every hour. Try to keep a little teensy bit of perspective, yeah?

Oh, and it's worth mentioning that those deserters are the ones who had hoped for a Golden Quartet or that Ginny's love saves the day or whatnot in DH. I think that even you would agree that those rather superficial ideas are best left out of DH.

Respond or not, delete this post if you will, but I was most disappointed I had to go hunting here to see if you'd have any courage to respond to me. If you're going to play this game with me Cousin It, then play. Then again, considering the reason I last posted in your journal, I really shouldn't have expected much class from you.

I was touched that you half missed me though. :P

P.S. Nice pic. Looks like Draco skinned his knee or something (and if so, I can guess how...don't need to explain it to me). Not sure if it works with your style, but is it possible to lengthen Ron's nose? Just curious.

It's shameless the way we flirt, isn't it, Dak-kins?

Firstly, thank you for the compliment on the art. I should make Ron's nose longer (profiles, I am bad at them). I went a little crazy with the red on Draco's knee. It's supposed to be slightly suggestive.

Here be your victory yell: http://forums.fictionalley.org/park/showthread.php?s=&postid=1799673#post1799673

Besides, you weren't proven correct. The argument was one of preference (and then of shippers on all sides -mostly bashing the poor H/Hr shippers, not touching the slashes, for we are Devo- being mean and nasty) not who was right. That's where the two deserters (deserters?) come in--- they could've done a "victory dance" as well, but there was no right or wrong. Just prefrence.

I probably would've puked at the Ginny saves the Day, but I'm just biased. Ginny's been destroyed for me (thanks JK) and now I can only read about her in lesbian fanfic. (Want some? I've got some. Ahhh, you do, don't you? I'll hook you up)

I'd never delete one of your notes, though! They're like love letters, and I keep them in a drawer, tied with a pink ribbon. Careful with those nicknames, though, or someone'll Rule 34 us.

And you say you're not into the slash...

Date: Friday, March 28th, 2008 01:24 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] daksian.livejournal.com
What, this qualifies as a 'victory yell'?

A note about the slow movement of this thread: I think there's been a dearth of activity here for two reasons. First, our position was proven. Many past posters seem to have been part of the canon-battles. DH conclusively ended the battle, and we were left the victors, so we're happy.

Wow, you're right. It should have been shouted from the rafters. *rolls eyes*

Meh. Lesbian fic doesn't squick me, but I don't really care for it either. In fact, my OT3 is H/G/L. :P Hell, even reading about male slash doesn't bug me, except if it's OOC and if it's graphic. See my posts on the CS Male Slash to get my view.

To put it another way, the one thing I can't stand over all other fics is OOC. If Harry's sexuality was truly in question (and it's not, he's straight, deal with it), I wouldn't have been the least surprised to find out he was in love with Ron. I actually mentioned that way back when I started that 'Who's the best girl for Harry' thread.

As for slashers being mean and nasty...if you are representative of that, consider me unimpressed.

Which nickname do I need to be careful with Cousin It? After all, doesn't the character make a squeaky noise like a harpsiccord, kind of grating on the ears? Describes you to a T.

Or did you think I referred to something else? >:D

Date: Friday, March 28th, 2008 05:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] harpsi-fizz.livejournal.com
Maybe victory yell was the wrong choice of words? It seemed like the most polite way to put it. Either way, it was "We're right (preference again), they're wrong, so we don't need to have any more discussions, and that's why..."

Didn't you say that all slash was OOC because there are no gays in Harry Potter (aside from recently ret Conned Dumbledore the sanitized)? I never meant to imply that slashers were mean and nasty. What I was trying to say was that those in the fandom that are looking to bash rarely try to bash slashers. You know, that whole thing about it being untouchable?

Which nickname do I need to be careful with Cousin It? After all, doesn't the character make a squeaky noise like a harpsiccord, kind of grating on the ears? Describes you to a T.
All of them, Dakkywobbles. People will call us shameless, you know! Your misconseption of T, though, makes me think I need to give you a few more visual aids on the journal, (not the kind in your first icon). If Ruin and I ever do our podcast, we'll all have a chance to sort out our differences, because honestly, I think we're getting to the point of agreeing to disagree. How positively heron-ic.

If not, then you'll at least part with some hearing AIDS.

Pfft, I dunno about the 'we don't need any more discussions' part, but I do concede the 'we were right' bit. However, if you're casting about looking for the proper words in place of 'victory yell', I would suggest 'pointing out a fact', or 'stating the obvious', even.

Slash IS OOC..for established characters. I couldn't begin to tell you which way Ernie MacMillan swings.

As for slashers being untouchable, I don't play by conventions. That said, I don't go after a slasher for being a slasher. If they're a slasher and an idiot, I'll go after them, but only for the latter reason. It's why I'm here, after all.

As for the nicknames...the variety belongs to you Cousin It. If you think my choice for you doesn't apply, then spell out why you think so.

However, if you want to part ways for now, that's fine. I'll be here when you're ready to resume.

Date: Friday, March 28th, 2008 08:32 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] harpsi-fizz.livejournal.com
I like "pointing out fact". That's always a good word. However, it looks more like making excuses. Remember the post, it's why we're all here.

And here I thought you were here because you didn't like the cut of my jib. Isn't that why you paid your first visit? But you're getting better at learning what hurts, and for that I'm proud of you. This is all going swimmingly.

Nevermind the nicknames thing. It was a deflecto refrence.

Some day I'd really like to get a sense of your take on what queer is and what it isn't. Maybe it goes back to your (apparent?) use of the two-gender system. Or should I leave that alone, lest you think I'm trying to convert you. Ever read Brokeback Mountain?

Date: Friday, March 28th, 2008 10:19 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] daksian.livejournal.com
Well, whatever you believe, let me be clear: I honestly, truly, do not believe for a moment that the dearth of H/G activity has more to do with H/G shippers being disgruntled about DH than I do with them being fed up with the hypocrisy of FAP. I'm not making excuses. This is the truth as I understand it.

I don't like you because of your callous attitude. Your sexual preferences mean absolutely squat to me.

I never read Brokeback Mountain. I saw the movie instead. Thought it was excellent. Was really pleased it was filmed in Alberta Canada, home to far too many homophobic rednecks who were appalled by it.

Actually, thank you for your example. Remember that revolting bit about the psycho Phelps and how they were glad Heath Ledger was dead because of that film? Yeah, that's the same attitude you showed Laurel.

Date: Friday, March 28th, 2008 11:30 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] harpsi-fizz.livejournal.com
Where's Peter? =(

The Phelps/Ledger example isn't a very good one, especially considering who you're having a conversation with. You can do better, but that's alright. I'll take the corn and throw away the shaft. All better?

The sooner we stop taking all of this so seriously (so seriously, so seriously), the sooner we both realize how funny the situation is, the happier we'll be. Yeah?

I represent good Marauders, not evil ones. :P

If you don't like my analogy, you have the other one I offered in owls.

If you want to stop, we'll stop.

If we can't fix it, then we'll just have to stand it.

"If only we had the Ginny that should have been, and not the Ginny that was Sued beyond recognition."
I admit to having an embarrassing realization that I much preferred GoF!Harry/GoF!Ginny (two nice kids with each other) to DH!Harry/HBP!Ginny (Crucio-casting power-obsessed creep and a cheerful bully with each other). And I am a OBHWF-er. :D;; ...At least, I thought I was... Actually, my view of the OBHWF ships seems to have reset itself to around GoF-era. Silly me. :D;;

The Ron/Draco pic is cute - wait, is that a SKIRT Draco's wearing? I thought it was shorts... XD I like the unconventionally-faced Ron (sort of chubby-looking) - it's nice to see something different. Only crits I can think of are that the bottom of Ron's hand looks slightly off compared to the outline of the sleeve and that Draco should perhaps be a bit pointier . :D;;

(Not all Herons, HarryxGinny-ers, and general OBHWF-ers are fanatical about it. I admit to have somewhat OOC-characterizations for Ron in Hermione/Ron and, well... Harry and Ginny when it comes to long-term Harry/Ginny shipping.

And I honestly apologize if I'm wrong, but doesn't the HMS_STFU only go after the Harmonians who bash Ron, make Hermione into some sort of goddess-in-all-but-name, and turn Harry into some sort of super-sexy hero (i.e. the HarMOANians)? That's the part of them I found funny. I don't find Harry compatible with Hermione (their relationship seems to be along the lines of "Infodump, Hermione! ...Satisfactory. DISMISSED." in the later books), but then again, if I took strictly-canon!Hermione/Ron, I could say the same about compatibility, so... [I have fanon in which Hermione relaxes and acknowledges that Ron is pretty smart underneath the laid-backness. I forget this isn't canon. :D;;])

Retconning Dumbledore? You mean, having Gellert "exploit" the relationship, having Albus do it all for LUUUUUURVE, etc.? Yeah, that got on my nerves too.

...Say, I like your art, you're a lot different than the normal fandom crowd I hang out with (the Canon Fanatics who are loyal OBWHF-shippers), and I like your unconventional style when it comes to shipping. Mind if I friend you? :)

Oie, Crits! Thank you! I gotta work on those hands... its fun to avoid them.

A member of Deleterious! I kind of still belong to that community, but it seems to have been overrun with slash-haters and self-stroking canon nazis. I love it when OCs are destroyed, I really do! Still, if we take the nazi-ism to the logical extreme, no fanfiction can be written EVER because technically it's all not!canon as none of it ever happened.

Hay, good to have finally gotten that out.

Nothing wrong with liking GoF-era OBHWF. Back then, the world was full of possibilities, wasn't it? It was only after DH that things started to get WAY out of control for both the writing and the fandom.

Let me apologize in this paragraph for my blatant prejudice against R/Hr shippers. No, really, I mean it. Deep down, I know that there are very cool, kind ones and that it's just the bad, mean ones that are ruining it. As for the HMS thing, I got the wrong impression due to Deleterius-Mod's bitchy description on the side-bar ("laughing at stupid Harmonians that can't accept canon"). You'd think that after so many years of being in that community, I'd realize that she sees everything in extremes and doesn't care to make distinctions. Not saying bad or good, just saying it's how she comes off... one of those people.

And secretly... I could get into R/Hr if it was written differently. Your version of canon for example. I'd sure like to read it... but it'd probably get slammed on new!Deleterious if you wrote it down.

You'd really friend me? *Adores* Oie, thank you! And I shall friend you right back!

Warning #1- This is slash heavy
Warning #2- I've been neglecting my updates a lot
Warning #3- Might be a wave of Dark Knight things once it actually does get updated.

Rowling: "The Harry Potter series is deep, and mature, and grows with the characters...and out a character in the actual books? Nonono, this is kids' series!"

Me: *headdesks*

Gah, ship wars, they are scary things. I'm very grateful for Yuugiou fandom where almost no couples actually got together in canon and thus shippers have almost free reign as long as they write it realistically... But there are still wanky ships, and unfortunately they are the most popular.

Luna/Lucius? Really? Wow, just about every possible ship has been done, huh? The problem is finding it done well...

And thank you for reminding me of Sporty!Sue!Ginny. That really made my day DX I just...I really have no concept of what she and Harry would be like as a couple. They did not TALK in HBP- they mooned over each other from afar and then made out.

I like your 'Hermione: You think I prefer BLOKES?' icon a great deal ;) Sigh, there is not enough good yuri in HP fandom... I've seen more in Yuugiou and it has a total of eleven female characters. Massive sigh.
