The first time I encountered Harley Quinn was during the animated series. I don't know how old I was, but I do remember it was the explanation episode where she went into her background. I watched up until the flashback ended and someone came in and told me to switch it off (I wasn't allowed to watch violent-ish cartoons).
So I'm not claiming to have a Batman background in this post, but damnit it's not difficult to see fandom trends. Internet fandom dynamics is easy to figure out. They all have the same sub-caves.
The fangirls have noticed that people will leave their stories alone if they don't contain the letters O,F, and C next to the Joker's name. They then noticed Harley Quinn. Then, they figured out that with that body suit and face paint, just about anyone can be Harley, if you get what I'm saying. I love reading sporked Joker fanfics, though. So for Chrissake people, can we establish some rules for Nolanverse? I'll start:
-Nolanverse is more realistic. Penguin isn't showing up. Poison Ivy is doubtful (sad, 'cause I know it could be epic and groundbreaking, on par with TDK).
-NV Joker is different, too. He's got more things going on upstairs. He doesn't work with a Harley Quinn, or any person, really. Gonna go out on a limb here and say that the guy is more or less asexual. Definitely a-romantic, but asexual definitely.
- I take it back. NV Harley-Joker could work, but it'd be so brutal, so abusive, so... nasty that the directors would have to slap it with an R-rating. I'm talking making her mute by ripping her tongue out.
- NV Joker could benefit greatly from a shower
The makers of these lists always have the risk of epic backlash. I'm expecting it, and that's alright. If I have to modify it, I will, because I'm quitethe internet coward diplomatic and word weasly.
So here's some Twilight hater art.

I'd like to adopt a more serious style.

"I'm Ginny - it's nice to see someone else in here - I mean, not that it's nice for you, but-" She swallowed and sighed. "I've been here for three years straight, sorry. It gets lonely." She was silent for a moment before asking, "Who got you?"
"Fanficcer, didn't get her penname," Harley said, shrugging. "You?"
Ginny looked hideously uncomfortable before she turned her face towards the wall.
"Gin?"
"Canon author," the red-haired girl whispered, and curled into the fetal position. "My own author did this to me."

"Red?"
"Heh. Ye-eah, I had this um... you remind me of a gal I once knew. She had red hair an'... *Looks troubled for a moment, remembering a past relationship with Poison Ivy* Never mind, Gin, sugar. Show me another magic trick! Those are fun!"

Suffice to say, massive brainbreak occurred. D: Oh well. Fandom can be made of serious fail sometimes... May much more Joker badfic get sporked! *toasts* (P.S. What IS up with all the Joker fangirls? Seriously, I fail to see the sex appeal...)

Date: Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 03:25 pm (UTC)From:I have no idea! We took an older Lady-friend to see the movie. Now she's very level-headed and awesome (you'd like her) and when w drove back she said "I have no idea why, but when he was standing up there waiting for Batman, it..."
And we were like "WHY?!?" and she looked really upset and said "I don't know why, it just did!"
But I'll admit this- I have a thing for Nurse!Joker. 'Specially in that wig of hers (Yep, I call her a her).
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the Joker, aesthetically pleasing, is kinda... pudgy in the tummy area? Just enough so that it hangs over his boxers/briefs. It's cute, I mean, but I have the idea that he is.
Damnit. Disappear always gives me trouble when I longhand it like that.
